i have read the first 3 of the book saga - i'm SUCH a dedicated fan that i'm witholding the pleasure of the fourth book. Plus, now that I am an English Literature Student I have to catch up on the classics.
Currently I'm reading 'Tender is the Night' by F. Scott Fitzgerald. In year 12 lit we read 'The Great Gatsby' which is what put me on to reading more Fitzgerald. He provides such an insight into the Jazz Age - which, by the way, is perhaps the most fab age ever; the Stone Age doesn't come close in the glamour stakes. This author is all about the sleaze, too: materialism; lust; adultery. Fantastic, really.
I've found 'Tender is the Night' to be much more complex than 'The Great Gatsby' - in the plot line as well as the structure. I'm reading the more popular revised edition which has been reconstructed after Fitzgerald's passing.
Next year in literature the main focus is The Gothic - looking forward to this rather immensely - so I've also read 'Frankenstein - the modern prometheus' and made a start on Dracula. Has anyone else noticed the incessant use of the word "countenance" in gothic reads? The protagonists are always going on about this.
A added bonus to this choice of topic is that I've found Twilight to fit in quite perfectly! Vampires, werewolves, the sex appeal of Edward Cullen - all gothic with the modern high school twist.
must also use this opportunity to LOVE Rpatzz big time. Officially voted THE number one sexiest man by Glamour. I always avidly supported him through youtube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmUHhxL0dm0 - this is my favourite . JEALOUSY of
Tyra Banks right now insurmountable.
thats about it.
